Farm maps are only half of it. This is the actual strategy: how weighting works, which plays to chase, when to mod, and how to farm efficiently instead of grinding blind.
By OSUMAUK Staff
Knowing which maps farm is only half the battle. Farming pp fast is about strategy - understanding what actually moves your total, picking the right target, and not wasting hundreds of retries on plays that will never reach your top list. This is the how, not just the what.
osu! weights your best scores with a steep decay: your number-one play counts full, and each one after it at 0.95 of the previous. Only your top ~50-100 plays meaningfully contribute. That single fact drives the whole strategy - a new play does nothing unless it beats the play it would replace near the top of your sorted list. Grinding easy passes that land at rank 200 in your list is wasted effort.
A new play only helps if its pp beats your current ~#50-100 play. The biggest time-saver is a live farm tracker. Feed it your top-play pp and it surfaces maps that pay above your floor for your preferred mods - so you spend retries only on maps that can actually move your rank.
If your cursor is ahead of your fingers, grind aim maps; if you stream well, chase stream maps; if both trail your reading, DT-farm low-star maps you can FC in your sleep. Fighting your weakness for pp is slow - lean on what you already do best, and train the weak skill separately, for play rather than rank.
For the map lists themselves, see the main pp farm guide and the mod-specific farm guides. After a big FC, drop the replay into the Replay Analyzer to confirm your consistency held up - a clean unstable rate usually means the play will survive as a top score.
