The L.A. creature-wrangler. Flash, stun and lock down sites with a reusable menagerie of critters.
By VALMAUK Staff
Gekko reinvented what an Initiator can be. His abilities are living creatures — and most of them can be picked back up and reused after they fire. That reclaim mechanic gives him an economy unlike any other agent: a Gekko round can deliver a flash, a stun and a molly for a fraction of the effective cost, round after round.
He brings flashes, concusses, a damaging molly and a detain ultimate, all in one approachable package. That blend of utility and sustainability has made him a staple in coordinated play and a forgiving pick in solo queue.
| Ability | Key | Cost | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mosh Pit | C | 250 credits (as of the current patch) | Throw Mosh like a grenade; it duplicates across an area and detonates after a delay for heavy zone damage. |
| Wingman | Q | 300 credits (as of the current patch) | Send Wingman forward to concuss the first enemy it finds (or plant/defuse the Spike); reclaim it afterward to reuse. |
| Dizzy | E | Signature, reusable with a cooldown (as of the current patch) | Send Dizzy into the air to fire plasma blasts that blind enemies in line of sight; reclaim the orb to reuse. |
| Thrash | X | Ultimate, 7 points (as of the current patch) | Pilot Thrash through enemy territory and detonate to detain everyone nearby; reclaim it once to use a second time. |
Verify exact costs, reclaim timing and keybinds in-game, since Gekko has been tuned across patches.
Gekko is about reusable tempo. Lead executes with Dizzy for the flash — send it forward, let it blind the angle, then collect the dropped orb on your way through to throw it again next round (or later the same round if there is time). Wingman is your concussing entry buddy and a clutch Spike planter or defuser when you are pinned down.
Mosh Pit clears corners on entry and shuts down post-plant defuses. Thrash is a phenomenal information-and-detain tool: pilot it onto a site to detain defenders, then swing the opening — and because you can reclaim it once, you effectively get two ultimates. The key habit is picking your critters back up: a Gekko who never reclaims is just a worse Initiator.
"Reclaiming your critters is the whole agent — a Gekko who forgets to pick them up is throwing half his kit away every round.
Gekko fits a wide range of maps thanks to his all-purpose kit, but he is often favoured where Wingman’s plant/defuse trick and tight flash angles pay off — Split, Lotus and Ascent are common picks. As with every agent, his standing moves with the map rotation and current meta.
Pro tip: send Wingman to plant the Spike when you are stuck in a crossfire post-execute. It plants from a safe distance and frees you to hold the angle instead of exposing yourself on the defuser’s line.
Low to medium. Gekko is one of the friendliest Initiators to pick up — his flash and stun are straightforward — but squeezing full value from reclaims, Wingman planting and double-Thrash takes game sense. An easy floor with a satisfying ceiling.
