The original information Initiator. Learn how to scan, reveal and pry enemies out of cover with Sova’s bow.
By VALMAUK Staff
Sova is the agent who turned "information" into a win condition. Armed with a recon bow, an owl drone and a wall-piercing ultimate, he answers the single most important question in tactical shooters: where are they? A good Sova rarely needs to swing a duel himself — he hands his team free fights by deleting the enemy’s ability to hide.
He rewards study more than almost any other agent. The payoff is a recon dart that reveals a whole site through three walls, or a Hunter’s Fury that drains a hidden defender from across the map. This guide covers his kit, how to play around it, and where he shines.
| Ability | Key | Cost | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Owl Drone | C | 400 credits (as of the current patch) | Deploy and pilot a drone, then fire a marking dart that tags and reveals the enemy it hits. |
| Shock Bolt | Q | 150 credits, 2 charges (as of the current patch) | Fire an explosive bolt that detonates on impact, dealing damage to nearby enemies — ideal for post-plant and clearing tight angles. |
| Recon Bolt | E | Signature, free with a cooldown (as of the current patch) | Fire a bolt that activates on impact and reveals nearby enemies; it can bounce off surfaces and pulses several times. |
| Hunter’s Fury | X | Ultimate, 7 points (as of the current patch) | Fire up to three long-range energy blasts that pierce walls in a line, dealing damage and revealing anyone hit. |
Always confirm exact charges, costs and keybinds in-game, since Riot tunes these between patches.
Sova is a discovery engine. On attack, lead executes with a recon dart thrown into the site so your team knows whether to commit or fake. On defense, use darts to check flanks and pinch timings, then rotate on confirmed information rather than guessing. Learn a handful of lineup darts per map — thrown bolts that bounce into the heart of a site — so you can reveal from total safety.
The owl drone is your scout for slow, methodical rounds; the marking dart pairs beautifully with an entry teammate who swings the second the tag lands. Shock bolts cover post-plant: memorise damage lineups onto common defuse spots so a planted Spike becomes nearly impossible to disarm.
"Information wins rounds before bullets do — a single well-placed dart can decide whether five players push or pull back.
Sova tends to favour large, open maps where his bow has sightlines and bounce angles to work with — Breeze, Icebox and Ascent are classic homes for him. He is weaker on tight, vertical maps where darts have little room to travel. Map preferences shift with the competitive pool and balance patches, so treat this as a starting point rather than a rule.
Pro tip: never throw a recon dart and immediately push the same spot. Reveal, then count the seconds it takes enemies to shoot it down — that reaction tells you exactly how many defenders are holding the site.
High. Sova’s baseline value is easy to access, but mastering him means memorising dozens of recon and damage lineups per map and reading reveals faster than your opponents. He is one of the most rewarding agents to grind, with a ceiling that scales for the entire team.
