Overwatch Ultimate Tier List (Which Ults Win Fights)
Not all ultimates are created equal. A ranking of every game-changing ult by how reliably it wins a teamfight, from press-to-win buttons to charge you should barely notice.
By OWMAUK Staff
Ults are the currency of a teamfight. The team that spends fewer ults for the same result banks an advantage for the next fight, and some ultimates simply end a round the moment they land. This is a ranking of impact per ult, weighted for how hard it is to whiff. Value-per-charge, not raw flash.
The single most important ult skill is not having a strong one - it is not wasting it. A saved ult beats a used one every time. Track what the enemy has spent before you press yours.
S-tier: these win the fight on their own
| Ultimate | Hero | Why it is broken |
|---|---|---|
| Nano Boost | Ana | Turns an ally into a wrecking ball; combos with any other ult |
| Grav + follow-up | Zarya | The classic combo enabler; sets up a full team wipe |
| Sound Barrier | Lucio | A giant team shield that cancels most enemy ults outright |
| Valkyrie | Mercy | Chains healing and damage boost, hard to punish, rarely dies |
| Coalescence | Moira | Huge heal and damage at once with no cast time to interrupt |

Ana - Nano Boost
The best combo ult in the game. Nano a diving tank or a Reaper and the fight is often over before the enemy reacts.
S-tier
Wrecking Ball - Minefield
S-tier zoning. Drops a wall of mines that denies a whole area and forces the enemy off the point or into your team.
S-tierA-tier: strong, needs a setup
These win fights but only when you land them right - a good position, a grouped enemy, or a combo partner. Solo them into a spread-out team and they fizzle.

Sigma - Gravitic Flux
A-tier - lifts and slams grouped enemies. Devastating with follow-up, wasted if the enemy is spread or you miss the group.
A-tier
Reaper - Death Blossom
A-tier - a guaranteed team wipe if you reach the middle of them, usually via Nano or a flank. Predictable if you telegraph it.
A-tier
Lifeweaver - Tree of Life
A-tier - a huge burst of area healing that stalls a point or negates enemy pressure. Great defensively, situational on offense.
A-tierB-tier: useful, rarely decisive
- Tactical Visor (Soldier: 76) - great value, easy to press, but predictable and shut down by a shield or a Suzu.
- Barrage (Pharah) - can wipe a grouped team, dies to any hitscan looking up.
- Dragonblade (Genji) - snowballs hard in the right hands, does nothing if peeled or slept.
- Whole Hog (Roadhog) - big zoning and displacement, easy to duck behind cover.
The counter-ult game is half of high-level Overwatch. Baptiste Immortality Field, Lucio Sound Barrier, Kiriko Suzu and Zarya bubble all exist to cancel the S-tier ults above. Bait those cooldowns first.
Ult economy ties into every hero pick. For the heroes that carry those ults, see the best tank heroes, the best supports to climb with, and the best DPS for solo queue. And if you want the difficulty view of who can even use these kits, read every hero ranked by skill floor.
You do not win with the strongest ult. You win by making the enemy waste theirs.
