Hidden adds a flat pp bonus for the reading challenge, which makes it nearly free pp on maps you can already read. Here is how HD farms and the best maps to use it on.

Hidden fades the notes out and removes the approach circles, and the pp algorithm hands a flat reward for the added reading difficulty. The trick is that the bonus applies whether or not Hidden actually made the map harder for you - so on any map you can already read comfortably, HD is close to free pp.
The HD sweet spot is a map with an approach rate you can read by feel - roughly AR9 and below at nomod, or a comfortable DT map. On very high-AR maps HD can genuinely cost accuracy, so add it where reading is not already your bottleneck.

If your accuracy drops the moment you flick HD on, the map is above your reading level. Drop to an easier map and build HD reading there before farming it.
