The Senegalese enforcer nullifies enemy utility and mutates into a tank. Master Chokehold traps, the utility-eating Interceptor, and Evolution.
By VALMAUK Staff
Veto is the newest Sentinel and the first built explicitly around anti-utility. Empowered by a DNA mutation, the Senegalese enforcer denies the enemy their abilities: his Interceptor eats incoming utility, his Chokehold traps and debuffs pushers, and his ultimate turns him into a regenerating, debuff-immune juggernaut. He reshapes how a fight plays out as much as where it happens.
| Ability | Key | Cost | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crosscut | C | 200 cr (x2) | Place a vortex on the ground; while in range and looking at it, activate to teleport to its location. Reclaimable during the buy phase. |
| Chokehold | Q | 200 cr | Throw a fragment that deploys a destructible trap on landing, holding enemies in place while Deafening and Decaying them. |
| Interceptor | E | Free (signature) | Place a device, then re-use to activate; it destroys any utility that would bounce off a player or be destroyed by gunfire. |
| Evolution | X | 7 ult points | Instantly mutate to gain a combat stim, health regeneration, and full immunity to all debuffs. |
Keys and costs are accurate as of the current patch. Because Veto is the most recent addition to the roster, his numbers are the most likely to change as Riot balances him; treat everything here as a current-patch snapshot and check the live patch notes for exact values.
On defense, Veto plays as an anchor who denies both space and utility. Drop a Chokehold trap on the choke to catch and debuff a pushing enemy, hold Interceptor ready to neutralize the flashes and mollies a coordinated team relies on, and place a Crosscut vortex to give yourself a fast reposition or rotation route. His value spikes against utility-heavy attacking compositions.
On attack, use Interceptor to clear the defenders’ setup utility as you take a site, Chokehold to lock down a corner during your execute, and Crosscut to take an aggressive angle with an instant escape behind you. Evolution is your clutch and entry button: pop it to push through a debuff-heavy hold or to tank a retake while your regeneration keeps you in the fight.
"Veto does not out-aim the enemy; he takes away the tools they were counting on and forces a fair fight.
As a recent release, Veto’s strongest maps are still being mapped out by the community, but he generally favors sites with defined chokes where Chokehold and Interceptor can cover the main entry. Confirm the live competitive rotation and current win-rate data before locking him in, since his meta placement is still evolving.
Hold Interceptor until the enemy actually commits their utility. Activating it early wastes the device on nothing, but timing it as their flashes and mollies fly cripples a coordinated execute.
Medium. His individual abilities are intuitive, but reading enemy utility timings well enough to maximize Interceptor is a genuinely high skill ceiling.
