The ability-suppressing war machine. Silence enemy utility and flash your way onto site with KAY/O.
By VALMAUK Staff
KAY/O is the answer to a utility-heavy meta. His entire identity is suppression — the ability to switch off enemy abilities and force opponents to win with gunplay alone. In a game where flashes, walls and stuns decide rounds, an agent who can mute all of it is invaluable, and KAY/O does it while bringing two of the best flashes in the game.
He plays like a hybrid duelist-Initiator: aggressive flashes for entry, a damaging molly, and a suppression knife that sets up picks. His ultimate turns him into a self-reviving wrecking ball that disables an entire site.
| Ability | Key | Cost | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| FRAG/ment | C | 200 credits (as of the current patch) | Throw an explosive fragment that sticks to the floor and detonates several times, dealing heavy damage in its radius. |
| FLASH/drive | Q | 250 credits, 2 charges (as of the current patch) | Throw a flash grenade; alt-fire lobs a faster, weaker version that explodes quickly. |
| ZERO/point | E | Signature, free with a cooldown (as of the current patch) | Throw a suppression blade that sticks to a surface, winds up, then suppresses every enemy in range — disabling their abilities. |
| NULL/cmd | X | Ultimate, 7 points (as of the current patch) | Overload to pulse suppression around KAY/O, gaining combat stim; if downed while active, he can be stabilised and revived. |
Check exact charges, costs and keybinds in-game, since KAY/O has been retuned across patches.
KAY/O combines flashes and suppression to dismantle defenses. The signature combo is ZERO/point onto a site or held angle: the suppression pings enemies caught in range and shuts off their abilities, so they cannot flash back, wall off or stun your entry. Follow the knife with a FLASH/drive and swing aggressively — KAY/O is comfortable taking the first duel himself.
FRAG/ment clears corners and locks down post-plant defuses. Save NULL/cmd for full team executes or retakes: the suppression pulse strips enemy utility across a wide radius, and the revive mechanic means you can play aggressively without immediately throwing the round if you die. Time the knife so its suppression lands the moment your team pushes.
KAY/O is broadly flexible, but he tends to shine on maps where flash entries are king and where suppressing a chokepoint pays off — Ascent, Bind and Haven are common picks. His standing rises and falls with how utility-dependent the prevailing meta is, so weigh the current patch when locking him in.
Pro tip: throw ZERO/point so its wind-up finishes exactly as your team peeks. Suppressed enemies cannot flash you back or stun the entry — but the window is brief, so synchronise the knife with the swing.
Medium. KAY/O’s flashes are intuitive, but extracting full value from suppression requires reading enemy utility timings and coordinating the knife with your team’s push. He rewards aim-confident players who can entry and initiate at once.
