The finest finishes for both CT rifles - loud grails, clean minimalist picks and budget-friendly workhorses for the M4A4 and the M4A1-S.
By CSMAUK Staff
The M4 is the CT rifle, and CS2 gives you two flavours of it. The M4A4 fires faster and holds 30 rounds, while the M4A1-S is suppressed, quieter, and holds 20+20 with tighter first-shot accuracy. Whichever you main, the skin market for both is deep. This guide splits the best finishes into grails, clean everyday picks and budget options, so you can find something that fits your inventory and your wallet. Prices shift with the market, so we focus on why each skin is loved rather than a fixed number.
Which M4 should you run? The A1-S is easier to control and stays hidden on radar sound, which most players prefer for holding angles. The A4 rewards aggressive spray and multi-frags. Pick the gun first, then the skin - and remember your finish shows on the viewmodel, so loud art is more visible on the A4's longer barrel.
The M4A4 has two standout grails. The Howl is the game's only Contraband finish and a genuine collector item (covered in our most-expensive-skins guide). The Poseidon is the quiet flex - a Greek-mythology finish from the Gods and Monsters collection with soft marble tones that looks understated until you know what it is. For loud, instantly recognisable art, Asiimov's white-orange-black sci-fi look is the community favourite and has been for years.

ClassifiedThe A1-S has the best clean-white grail in the game: Printstream. Its animated print pattern with monochrome skulls is the single most requested M4A1-S finish, and it pairs with a matching Deagle and USP for a full white-and-black loadout. Hyper Beast is the loud alternative - a wall of neon monster art that has been an A1-S staple since it launched. Both are Covert and both hold value well.

CovertIf you want colour without a grail budget, Blue Phosphor and Player Two are excellent. Blue Phosphor is a glowing cyan finish that reads beautifully in first person, and Player Two brings a bubblegum pink-and-white retro look that pairs with the wider Player One / Two set.
